Koa Hawaiian: Exotic Wood

Koa is an exotic wood sourced from the islands of Hawaii. This species has a lot of color variation and is often sought after for its high figure. Most Koa boards have a light tan to brown background with colored streaks of red, gold, black, and yellow.

To protect the species from extinction, Hawaiian Koa logging is limited to certain areas of the islands and to trees downed by disease and wind. Hawaii Koa is very expensive and most often used for smaller projects and musical instruments.
