Peruvian Walnut: Exotic Wood

Peruvian Walnut is known for its dark brown coloring and minimal to no sapwood. Peruvian Walnut is darker than American Walnut but it normally has fewer knots and less sapwood. Many guitar companies have switched to Peruvian Walnut to minimize waste in production, cutting around sapwood that can be present in American Walnut.
